Study Hieroglyphs with Us!
GlyphStudy is a FREE student led, student run, study group on Yahoogroups.
We are a friendly group and we welcome anybody who is interested in
studying glyphs. We share homework, study resources, and a lot of
lively discussion about the Middle Egyptian language.
There are no prerequisites or fees to participate, but students will
need to join our Yahoogroup, and purchase a textbook. Please hold off
on purchasing new books until your section moderator contacts you with
the appropriate edition.
We will be offering two study sections for beginners, in early 2016.
1) Middle Egyptian: An Introduction to the Language and Culture of
Hieroglyphs by James P. Allen to begin 4, January.
2) How to Read Egyptian Hieroglyphs: A Step-by-Step Guide to Teach
Yourself by Mark Collier and Bill Manley to begin 15, February.
Both textbooks are suitable for beginners, but you should base your
selection on your long-term study goals. C&M will prepare you to read
a few inscriptions, while Allen will help you read longer texts.
If you are interested in participating, please send a first and last
name, email address, and your textbook selection to:
